3915. “The Human Jungle” by The Jazz Butcher

Live:

“The Human Jungle” opens with a bass line that must be a deliberate call out to Lou Reed’s “Walk On The Wild Side.” While part of the song’s chorus gave the title to their 1985 album Sex and Travel, it appears the the song was released as a single and on an album titled Big Questions.

The song’s title comes from a British TV series about a psychiatrist. The lyrics invite us to ponder what that shows’ psychiatrist would have to say about modern psychiatric problems.

I’m positive this is the first song IO encountered by The Jazz Butcher. For a time in the 80′s, it was among my favorite songs and I still rather enjoy it today.
