3916. “Angels” by The Jazz Butcher

Official video:

“Angels,” from 1986’s Distressed Gentlefolk, made its way onto MTV, which makes it something of a minor alternative hit from the mid-1980’s. I must have played it at one point on WRBC, but I mostly remember feeling a sort of simmering disdain for it because it was “popular.” Popular in the sense that people who usually didn’t care for music that I liked happened to like this song. I rejected a lot of good music in the 80’s when I was in my late teens and early twenties for stupid reasons like that.

That all said, “Angels” is a lovely song.

I’ll add The Jazz Butcher to my long list of bands that I would really like to become more familiar with before I get too damn old to seek out their music.
