M-282. “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen

This is probably the best Queen Song ever. Every YouTuber who posted this video made that very claim or one better claiming “The greatest song ever written…”[1] My oldest son, Lotaso, is in that latter camp. In fact this is the song I use as his ring-tone on my cell.

Like Someone to Love, this song has fantastic operatic vocals and harmonies. But that’s where the similarities stop.

This song has multiple time changes, melody shifts and lots of layered sound creating a dynamic that is still rarely attempted by any one else.

Even though this song may be hailed as Queen’s Magnum Opus,[2] they continued to write fantastic and memorable songs, Q.E.D.

With that last statement, this song closes out the segment on Queen and brings the Letter Q to and end.

As parting gift, we present, The Official Video.

[Edit 29 Nov 2009] This has to be the best cover performance ever!!
