867. “Little Red Riding Hood” by The Bobs

Listen to it at The Last FM.

This is a cover of the classic Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs’ tune:

Bass singer Richard “Bob” Greene takes the lead on this song, though everyone adds howls. In fact, they add a whole lot of howls.

I think this song benefits from having a bass singer sing it. I mean, I like the Sam the Sham version, but, somehow, a bass singer just sounds more like a big bad wolf.

Let’s enjoy some Tex Avery Riding Hood action as long as we’re here.

  1. The bass line for the Wolf is way passed wicked cool!! The original used to play all the damn time early in the morning on WMMR back in my High school days.

Since we are on a Little Red Hot Riding Hood cartoon extravaganza, here’s my contribution to the pot:

  2. I love it.

The original story of Little Red Riding Hood seems to a symbolic coming of age story, so the sexualization of the story is actually kind of appropriate.
