Here is the my next offering from my Best of… CD collection. this one is 2003′s The Singles 1992-2003.
Kicking it off as Track One is the 1st song from No Doubt that I had heard. Her vocals drive my crazy with lust. I had no idea at the time who she was much less what she looked like. But all that didn’t mattered, I was hooked.
Released in 1995 as the first single from Tragic Kingdom also released that same year, it was Ska-Pop Crossover that the Post Grunge Music Audience needed.
But, I don’t really care about all that, I just love the goose bumps it sends up down my outer extremities.
Got to admit, I’m not a big No Doubt fan and Gwen Stefani in particular has the opposite effect on me that she does on you. I’d go so far as to say she makes me a little B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
That said, I recognize that I’m in a minority here and I can respect the fact that a great many people recognize and appreciate her talent.
This was also the first song I heard from No Doubt and I remember liking it quite a bit at the time it came out.
This is the only song that her vocals made me melt into a puddle. I bought her L*A*M*B solo effort because I loved the playfulness of the two songs I heard on Commercial Radio. I was very disappointed. More on that, later.
I’m hardly complaining. You’re going to need to endure a half month of Cure songs, so the least I can do is spend some time with No Doubt.
