Live in France:
“Lightning Strikes (Not Once But Twice)” is another old school rap influenced song on Sandinista!. Though not as effective as “The Magnificent Seven,” this song is still a pretty decent attempt at a rap song. Strummer’s singing style frequently verged on a style of shout-singing that resembled rap anyways, so the transition was not a hard one for him. Also, he is enough of a poet to pull off creating something that doesn’t sound like “Mary Had a Little Lamb.”
Producer Mikey Dread toasts at the start of this album. His influence on this particular album should not be underestimated.
That could be released today and still get airplay. Reminds me a little of Anthrax’ venture into Rap.
