“When The Wind Blows” is the theme song from a rather grim British animated film about nuclear war. You can watch the whole thing online at YouTube.

“When The Wind Blows” is one of Bowie’s finer 80’s offerings. In fact, several of Bowie’s finest post-83 pieces were recorded for soundtracks (“Cat People,” “This Is Not America,” “The Buddha of Suburbia,” etc).

I think the fact that most of the U.S. is entirely unaware of the existence of the movie When The Wind Blows is the most likely reason that this song made zero impact in the United States. It was a minor hit in England.
