M-631. “Mood” by Klaus Dibbelt

I have often wondered if you one could considered an unaccompanied Solo as the Guitar version of an A Capella aria?

I’ll leave that to the experts as I am just music enthusiast.

Herr Dibbelt once wrote that he was trying to capture the truest sound of an acoustic guitar in the studio. He had modified a couple of rock songs as solo performance while attempting to realize his own “holy grail.”

The first of the two songs that he made available is called Mood and he refers to it as “… an acoustic guitar solo of a 70′s Rock band.”

His performance is akin to a Classical Music interpretation of a Classic Rock song with European Latin flavor. You can hear this performance by clicking here.

I’ve talked mostly about Klaus Dibbelt the the musician and haven’t discussed Klaus the teacher.

When Klaus and I first started corresponding I had shared some of my music with him. He instantly could hear weaknesses in my performances and gave me exceptional advice. Where I needed the most help was trying to maintain timing, my playing was a little loose. To this day, I still practice with a metronome, no matter how well I think I am doing.

I am still saving up for a drum machine, but in the meantime, I will continue to search for an open source one online for my Linux box.
