Reviewer Matthew Greenwald at AllMusic.com calls “I Know” “a jazz lullaby.” You know, that’s a pretty apt description of the song.

As with “Waltz (Better Than Fine” on Extraordinary Machine, “I Know” ends When The Pawn… on a positive note. Its a slow, lovely song and worthy of the attention its received by other artists.

At the end of that video, you’ll see Fiona Apple run on stage, embrace Costello and jump up and down. Costello says “Fiona wrote that song. That’s a great song.”

Who am I to argue with Elvis Costello? It is a great song, and a great way to end out sojourn in her musical catalog. Allegedly, she has an album coming out this spring and I can’t wait.
