3300. “Dub the Frequencies of Love” by Gogol Bordello

The most interesting thing about “Dub The Frequencies of Love” is that it sounds like a sort of progressive new wave hybrid. There’s some great drum work in the song and what sounds like keyboard work. Its really an interesting departure from their regular sound.

There’s a really interesting section in the lyrics that seems to reference reggae music:

Master tell us how everything they taught us
Turn out to be so God damn wrong
In the meantime music from a tiny island
Takes over the world

Really, considering the themes of immigration on Gogol Bordello’s records, its kind of cool to think that an “immigrant” music form like reggae became such a major thing internationally.
