Official video:
Parker released Another Grey Area in 1982 and there’s a fascinating backstory to the album. It seems like Parker’s career was on the cusp of breaking through and then it was undermined by some poor record label decisions. Its worth reading that AllMusic link.
Anyhow, despite various label missteps, “Temporary Beauty” is both a terrific song and was a top 40 hit in the U.K. It got a ton of airplay on AOR radio in America, which means I likely heard it on I-95.
Reading about Parker, I’m discovering that his great album was Squeezing Out Sparks, a record I’m not familiar with at all but which I’m adding to the “add to the library” list.
