“21 Guns” was released as a single from 21st Century Breakdown and did quite well on the music charts. It was apparently an especially big hit on VH1. I’m not sure if that’s something that Green Day would have been proud about when they first started, but I guess bands evolve.

I somewhat regret not taking the time to delve into the story of the album at this point as I’m of the belief that any analysis of the lyrics of the later songs would be hampered by my lack of general knowledge about the album. All I can really say is that this is a rather pretty song and the last really great one on the album.
