“Walking In The Shadow of the Big Man (Part 1)” is a moody, slow paced instrumental. The “Big Man” of the title is God, which should be clear based on Attaway’s spiritual lyrics, but isn’t made totally clear until the song “Fear of God” (on their next album, Jamboree) which includes the line “walking in the shadow of the big man” in its lyric.

Focusing on Jeff Walls’ virtuoso guitar playing, this track is a little reminiscent of Durutti Column – perhaps an unfair comparison, since anything focusing on guitar work could be compared to Durutti Column.
