3591. “Supply and Demand” by The Hives

Sing-a-long video:

Curiously, “Supply and Demand” has been favorably compared to Devo. I assume that is reference to the lyrics rather than to the musical style, but I leave it to those who are more familiar with Devo’s overall oeuvre to make that determination.

This song is an excellent choice for the final song on Veni Vidi Vicious as it leaves you wanting more. Indeed, I bought the album because of “Hate To Say I Told You So” but I bought the band (as it were) because of “Supply and Demand.” Once again, The Hives demonstrate all their strengths – vicious guitar work, brutal rhythm section and vocals that sound like they’re destroying the singer. And, of course, tight, tight playing. The Hives take this shit seriously and you can hear that on every track.
