320. “Eight Days a Week” (Take 5) by The Beatles

Joey Michaels on March 30th, 2008

This is the final track that I have in my iTunes library from Anthology 1.

This is a video of two different versions of the track from this album. The first one is an amalgam of Takes 1, 2 and 4 and the version I have in my library from Take 5:

I’m lukewarm on this song and not exactly sure why I chose to copy it to my library.

In a way, it points to the direction that the Beatles could have gone in if they hadn’t decided to follow a different path on their Revolver album.

You know, many bands are criticized when they make a change to their sound or try new things. Other bands are criticized for playing it safe.

Has the Beatles followed the “safe” path, I think this is what they would have sounded like and they wouldn’t be considered any more important to the history of music then a band like Herman’s Hermits.
