Jumping back to 1999’s 13, “No Distance Left To Run” is another heartbreaker - this time about the end of a relationship. The small amount of research I’ve done on this subject suggests that this is about the break-up of Damon Albarn’s relationship with the lead singer of Elastica.

Anyhow, this song provides plenty of lyrical grist for misery. For example:

It’s over, you don’t need to tell me
I hope you’re with someone
Who makes you feel safe in your sleeping tonight

The music perfectly matches the aching sadness of the lyrics without abandoning the essentials of Blur’s sound during this period. They really did a lot with palette.
