2122. “The Edge Of Forever” by The Dream Academy
The Edge of Forever (LP Version) - The Dream Academy
While this was originally on The Dream Academy’s self-titled debut album, most of the free world knows it as “that love song from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.
While “Life In A Northern Town” was a bigger hit, I have always felt that this was The Dream Academy’s better song. For me, it conjures up images of everything that was pleasant about being 16 and in love - partially because of Ferris Bueller, partially because The Dream Academy (under the tutelage of producer and Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour) was especially good at conjuring up nostalgic images, even when their songs were brand new.
