This upcoming series is one of my favorite bands, Lacuna Coil. They were extremely popular on MP3.com in early 2000 and the first handful of songs came from that site. In fact it was their popularity that brought them to my attention and I fell in love. [1]

Vocalist Andre Ferro and Marco Coti Zelati (Bass, Keyboards) formed Sleep of Right in 1994. After many member changes they hired a mutual friend, Cristina Scabbia, to sing background vocals. She eventually became a permanent member of the band and they changed their name to Ethereal. [2]

In 1997 they released their eponymous demo that caught the attention of Century Media Records. This song, Shallow End is the third track from that demo and seems to be the only MP3 from that release floating around the interwebs.

    I like the goth vocals much better than the dog barking vocals in metal, for the record. :P

    And I love Ms. Scabbia’s vocals. She sounds great.

    Yeah, this band sounds pretty awesome. I’m looking forward to listening to more from them!
