M-597. “Heaven’s a Lie” by Lacuna Coil

2002’s Comalies This Lacuna Coil’s first single ever released for Century Media Records is the second track from their third full length Studio Album, 2002’s Comalies. Through underground support on the Original MP3.com and coverage MuchMusic USA’s (later Fuse’s) metal show, Uranium, [1] they began to get attention from larger and major media outlets. Uranium was the first to interview them live during the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival 2003. [2][3]

The original low-budget video was released in Early 2003. As the band and this song began to gain attention and popularity, a newer higher quality and better produced video was released in late 2003, debuting on the recently resurrected Headbangers’ Ball.

This song is viewed by many as an attack on religion, which is not the case at all. The song is about the freedom of ideas and the phrase “your heaven’s a lie” is used, it is referring to people who try to force their opinions on others. [4]

This is one of my favourite songs and was included on A Joey Mix Volume I

This one’s really grown on me since you shared it with me. The song really picks up steam and ends incredibly strong.

The acoustic version is great and really showcases their musical chops.
