M-598. “Aeon” / M-599. “Tight Rope” by Lacuna Coil

I seldom do this but just as with scarling.’s Teenage Party Letdown/Bummer post Aeon transitions into Tight Rope (Tracks 6 & 7 respectively) flawlessly on the CD and really needs to be played together to put it into proper aural context.

I think Aeon is one of, if not the best their composed pieces. There is a great aural beauty in its uncomplicated approach to painting an ethereal soundscape. Cristina Scabbia’s vocal performance matches suit.

The Bridge between the two songs, as mentioned above, is flawless in that it sounds like it is supposed to be there. As it slowly melds into Tight Rope you find yourself in a completely aggressive environment as dictated by the sudden double time of the beat. Andrea Ferro comes in with his raw delivery following the complete build up.

Luckily, I found a fan video that linked the two together, so enough of my gushing fanboydom. (Note It actually changes tracks at 1:56. You will hear no difference.)

  1. Joey Michaels Says:

The drumming caught my attention in this one, even though the mix clearly favors the guiat, then vocals, then keyboards. There more recent work seems a little less metal and a little more hard rock. Splitting hairs, I know.
