M-602. “Fragile” by Lacuna Coil

2006’s Karmacode was Lacuna Coil’s fourth studio release. It is also on the Century Media label, a RIAA Free company. “Fragile” is the opening track.

Before I talk about the song, I have to tell you that this album was somewhat of a let down for me. I don’t think they grew musically and the arrangements seem softer than any of their previous releases. This album was released four years after their break-out album so it normally would stand to reason that they would expand their horizons. The popularity that they gained from heavy touring made their label invest more on this effort. The result is over polished I think.

I can’t totally pan the album since I did manage to find five songs worthy enough to make it onto my MP3 Player.

Fragile is a good start to this album that really tries to break out as a serious headbanging rocker. It has all of the ingredients required to make it a star in the goth metal world. From the grinding arrangement to the lyrics about an abusive relationship that partners are addicted to; even to the point of stalking.

Yes it comes up short, but it is still good Lacuna Coil track.

Here is a music over single cover art video.

Oh, yeah, the production values on this are totally different. Everything sounds a little too polished. Its funny how easy it is to make a track sound loud but remove the metal “bite” from the guitars.

The new album, Andre worked on his vocal skills and harmonies and they both worked on the English enunciation. Super polished…
