2259. “Mr. And Mrs. Smack” by Eat

Cruelly embedding disabled by request of the record label. I’d be afraid that somebody might accidentally be exposed to this song too since I’m sure it brings in millions of dollars to the label every year.

A one-time resident of my Wish List (which is due for an update), Memo tracked this one down. Eat was a band from England that released an album called Sell Me A God in 1989. I used to play this track, “Mr. and Mrs. Smack,” on almost every show. I probably have ten cassette recordings of it kicking around, but it didn’t seem to make the leap to the digital age. Fortunately, Memo’s song search skills are impressive, so everything worked out for the best!

Hi. Speaking of wish lists, I just came across your May 28, 2009 post while I was trying to track down an mp3 version of “My Boyfriend” by the Cucumbers (I only have the cassette version). It appears you were able to obtain a copy. I would appreciate any info on how I might also acquire a copy. BTW, your old post also mentions you were in search of “Cinnamon Girl” by Prince. I have a quality version (192 kbps bit rate). I would be happy to share it with you if you are still without it. It’s about 5.5 MB, so perhaps you could suggest the most efficient way for me to send it (straight email or through a third party file hoster site).
Perhaps a trade of the two songs is possible. Please advise. Thanks.

I’ve listened to this several times over, and I just love the guitar line. Also, I think I hear a sort of familiarity that reminds me of Wilco. Is there a connection between the two?

Not that I know of, but I hear what you’re hearing.

As near as I can tell, Eat was English and Wilco was from Illinois. No overlap between artists or producers that I can identify.

Perhaps a minor influence then or just like minded.
