2260. “AEIOU Sometimes Y” by EBN-OZN

All time classic 80’s video:

This is one of my all-time favorite New Wave tracks.

Recorded by EBN-OZN in 1984 for their minor classic Feeling Cavalier, this one got a ton of airplay in my area on WXCI. It didn’t break the top 40 on the part charts, but every self respecting fan of New Wave knows this song (sort of like “I Melt With You” by Modern English).

The song is quirky as all get out, but its really a kind of intelligent song about how we don’t especially communicate well, especially when we’re interested in people.

At WRBC, when we were making station promos, we probably sampled every conceivable part of this song at some point. Ah, the joys of the world before that stupid “seven seconds of sample” law went into effect!

Never heard of this song or band before. In ‘83-’84 Philly had 100% New Wave radio station that I listened to.

    Interesting song. Like the quirkiness.

This one got a ton of MTV coverage at the time, if I recall correctly. If you can believe it, there was a time when the videos MTV played weren’t automatically top 40 on radio.

I remember that time. If your video went into heavy rotation, your sales normally would skyrocket.
