“Just About Glad” describes an affair that almost happened with some biting sarcasm:

I’m just about glad
That we never did that thing that we were going to do

And though the passion still flutters and flickers

For all of the courage that we never had
I’m just about, I’m just about

It helps that this is one of the catchier songs on Brutal Youth, particularly the chorus.

Nick Lowe plays bass on a number of these songs instead of Attractions bassist Bruce Thomas. Indeed, I suspect this is part of why the album is credited to Elvis Costello instead of Elvis Costello and The Attractions.
