M-617. “Falling Away from Me” by Korn

My wife gave me Korn’s fourth studio album, 1999’s Issues, for Valentine’s Day one year. I wrote her a corny poem to go with the gift I gave her so she had to give me something, Korny…

And what a great gift it was. Four songs of it made it to my MP3 player.

First up is Track Two which is the first single from the Album. It was actually performed by a cartoon version of Korn in an episode of South Park the day before the Album was released.

It’s about escaping from domestic abuse. The Official Video, directed by Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit) built upon that.

Korn performed a memorable version of “Falling Away from Me” for the filming of MTV Unplugged in December 2006, featuring hand bells and a glass harmonica. [1] The video for that was hard to track down but I found it on MyVideo.de.

I know they were part and parcel of the whole rap/metal thing that Limp Bizkit had going on, but I always liked Korn. They sound like real musicians. Heh. The live performance just reinforces that idea. They really play and aren’t just a bunch of frat boys looking for free beer.
